I registered my first domain name back in 1994 when it cost $100 to register a single domain name (for two years) and you had to have webhosting which cost $50 per month. Back then it was very expensive to invest in domain names, but boy did I find tons of great ones, because very few people knew about them.

In the late 90's the cost to register a domain name came down drastically and people were registering them like crazy. I had about 300 at that time. By the late 2000's I had over 11,000 domain names. I was registering new domain names, grabbing expired domain names, and buying domain names at auction (some I paid thousands for).
